Seiyuu: Imai Yuka
Suzu lost his older brother to the Shinsengumi when he was a little younger, and hence hates the Shinsengumi (kind of
the reverse of Tetsu). Yoshida convinces him to become his page, and avenge the death of his brother.
Suzu sincerely believes that Yoshida is kind at heart, even though he puts on a cruel, unforgiving face (somewhat like
Hijikata). What he fails to see (or perhaps refuses to believe) is that Yoshida enjoys killing. He is extremely loyal to his
sensei and will do anything to please him. His loyalty lies with Yoshida, rather than the Choshuu (the opposing group he is
affiliated with).
These two 15-year-olds are constantly encountering each other, and eventually develop a very awkward friendship. In the
very first episode, Tetsu crashes headlong into Suzu as he runs down the street with the Shinsengumi sign. Then, in the seventh
episode, Suzu and Tetsu meet in a weapons store, each reaching out to take the same wakizashi. Suzu reappears in episode 9,
where Tetsu chases Suzu and they both get lost in the woods.
After the Ikedaya incident, Suzu's personality changes, probably because the trauma of seeing his master killed by Tetsu
was too great for him to handle. He becomes a psychotic killer who loves cats (? very random) and carries around his dead
master's severed head, talking to it as though Yoshida were still alive.
