Seiyuu: Kobayashi Yumiko

Ichimura Tetsunosuke (Tetsu) is the main character in this series. Small for his age, but makes up for it with an overly aggressive personality. The kanji for 'Tetsu' means 'steel' or 'iron'- an alternative pronunciation for "Tetsu" is...guess what? "Kurogane'! I'm sure that was quite intentional on the part of the manga-ka ^_^

Tetsu is reckless, loud, rude and highly volatile. His parents were killed by the Choushuu (the opposing faction) and he wants to avenge them by joining the Shinsengumi. Okita Souji befriended tetsu very quickly, and in fact, helped him to enter the Shinsengumi.
Both Okita and Tatsunosuke (Tetsu's older brother, who is an accountant for the Shinsengumi) worry endlessly about him, though Souji is a little more discreet about it than Tatsu. Hijikata also cares about Tetsu in his own stern way, and refuses to let him pick up a katana. Souji thinks that it is because Hijikata does not want to make the same mistake as he made with Souji.

Saizou (the pig) seems to hate Tetsu, and always jumps at the opportunity to chase Tetsu around the Shinsengumi tonsho.

Tetsu is the only member of the Shinsengumi who dares to practice with Okita. Okita, you see, cannot control his strength, and will go all out even with a beginner. Tetsu was injured the first time he fought Okita, but yet he still keeps going back for more. (I told you the boy was stubborn!
